Waihi College international students
We’re finally back in the water doing what we do best: teaching the joy of surfing and what a way to start our first surfing lesson by welcoming to new Zealand 21 new Waihi college international students.
The students are about to start an 8 week surfing course that will take them on a journey of surf Discovery from complete beginners to seasoned wave warriors guided the whole way by the Waihi Beach surf schools team of highly skilled surf coaches.
Safety
All our beginners lessons starts with water safety. We explain the beach, how rips work, what to do if you get caught in a rip, how to identify rips and how to signal your distress.
Waihi Beach is one of safest surf beaches in New Zealand but there is always a rip at the northern end against the rock. So be careful around there. Always ask a local, one of our instructor or the lifeguard if it is safe.
Our instructors are qualified ISA and SNZ approved surf coaches. They are always on-hand to perform the occasional rescue. Checkout Aidan rescuing 3 people from a capsized boat!
